Norway-based marine electronics provider Navico has selected CalAmp to deliver improved LMU-4530 telematics devices for its new Cloud-enabled GoFree Connected Vessel programme.
The LMU-4530 device will aid Navico in monitoring onboard engine, sensor and navigation data online, and is capable of switching between cellular, satellite and Wi-Fi modes.
CalAmp has also customised its device management and maintenance software platform, PULS, to support Navico's over-the-air device management and firmware updates for vessels in port or at sea.
Navico senior telematics product manager Phil Gaynor said: “CalAmp's LMU-4530, and extensive development resources, are helping to power Navico's GoFree Connected Vessel programme to deliver vessel tracking, marine engine diagnostics, and a comprehensive trip management programme.
“Navico's GoFree programme also includes a dynamic sonar information product that enables crews to contribute to, and share, Cloud-based marine cartographic data to locate prime fishing locations.”
The LMU-4530 unit is equipped with a proprietary programmable event generator (PEG), which acts as an onboard alert engine, continuously monitoring a vehicle or vessel's operating environment and status.
