Global IT and communications services provider Orange Business Services has supplied its Maritime Connect hybrid communication network for Turkish shipping company Arkas Line's vessels fleet and international offices.
Maritime Connect will interlink Arkas’ 11 vessels and 25 land-based sites, and features terrestrial and satellite connectivity, as well as managed security and virtual private network (VPN) internet.
The solution has also enabled the shipping line to securely manage increasing internet traffic and create an improved end-user experience for employees at all of its sites.
The newly installed network helps Arkas to expand its business with a single source provider for reliable and secure global networks, covered by service-level agreements (SLAs) and global helpdesk support.
Arkas Holding CIO Mert Oruz said: “At Arkas, our objective was to find a solution with a powerful communications infrastructure, integrating our fleet of vessels into the corporate network and improve overall operational efficiency.
“Through this digital transformation, we have achieved higher service quality levels by using advanced technology to improve operational readiness and provide a better end-user experience for our employees.

Maritime Connect’s on board services integrate Arkas’ fleet with its corporate network, allowing the company to access critical applications including maintenance software, real-time reports, database access, e-mail, internet and voice over internet protocol (VoIP), for operation of its vessels at sea.
Connecting the fleet also improves data flow between Arkas’ fleet and its terrestrial sites, and allows the company to deploy new real-time services.
