SRT Marine Systems has been awarded a patent from the UK's Intellectual Property Office (IPO) for its GeoVS Dynamic-3D virtual reality visualisation technology.
The technology can be used in real-time marine domain management and display applications such as vessel traffic service (VTS), vessel monitoring system (VMS) and marine data management (MDM). It has been registered with the patent number 2489685.
GeoVS collects and combines various synchronous sensor data streams, including automatic identification system (AIS), radar, tides and weather with thematic data from maritime charts.
It also maps and instantly creates an accurate real-time virtual reality visualisation of the marine domain, which the viewer can then freely move and navigate through at will.
SRT Marine Systems CEO Simon Tucker said: “At the heart of SRT are our in-house developed core technologies that empower our products and systems with exceptional performance and functionality.
“Our real time Dynamic-3D virtual reality visualisation takes maritime situational awareness to a new level.”
SRT currently develops, manufactures and supplies maritime tracking technology and system solutions for the marine industry.
The company also provided its VMS System for the UK’s national fleet of fishing boats earlier this month, operating up to 250km from shore across an area of over 600,000km² that includes open-ocean and sensitive marine environments.
SRT VMS Systems will be used to monitor and manage the boats fleet.
